About RAILI

Practical AI literacy for the communities most often left out.

EduFrontier Foundation's Rural AI Literacy Initiative (RAILI) builds practical AI literacy among upper-primary and junior-high pupils, rural young people and their teachers in underserved Ghanaian communities. RAILI teaches learners to understand artificial intelligence, use AI-enabled learning methods, evaluate outputs critically, protect personal information and apply what they learn to local problems. It does this with free, existing tools and curriculum-aligned delivery.

To build practical AI literacy among rural pupils, young people and teachers through curriculum-aligned learning, teacher and facilitator development, safe technology use and community participation.

Who We Serve

Two learner groups, one commitment to safe and critical use.

AI is already shaping how rural Ghanaians learn, farm, trade and find information. RAILI starts early in the classroom and continues with young people as they move into further study, work and community life.

In school
Children
Upper primary (P4 to P6) and junior high school pupils

Supervised, age-appropriate lessons delivered by trained teachers within the school day and aligned with Ghana's computing curriculum.

Pupil Capability
Pupils demonstrate age-appropriate AI understanding, critical evaluation, safe use, privacy awareness and creative problem solving.
Youth Capability
Young people use AI critically and responsibly for learning, livelihoods and civic life, and some lead sessions as peer facilitators.
Teacher Capability
Teachers facilitate and adapt AI literacy activities without dependence on a visiting specialist.
Equitable Participation
Girls, boys, young women and young men receive comparable opportunities to speak, lead tasks, handle equipment and complete the learning cycle.
Safe & Relevant Delivery
Activities follow child and youth safeguarding, data protection, platform terms and Ghana's curriculum expectations.
